Photo Description: The article that originally uses this photo labels it as “woman with a mess”. I’m going to keep that same energy in my description as well. This picture shows a woman with a mess :)
Week Seven
Is multitasking a real thing? I have read that it is a fallacy. Although you think you are more efficient by doing more than one thing at a time, you are just slowing yourself down.
I am not just writing one book. I’m also writing a collaborative book. I’m also writing several articles by myself and with others. I am not sure about its efficiency. My mind quickly leaps from one writing project to the next. If I don’t stop to write it down, I can quickly lose the thread.
I still haven’t perfected capturing my thoughts on the run. It’s SO hot even at 5 am that the touchscreen part of my phone is useful after running a mile because it’s wet from being in my pocket (sorry that may be TMI for some but it’s HOT HOT). Even if I wanted to stop to record what was in my head, the buttons were useless with my sweaty fingers…sigh.
I spent the last week mostly on the other writing projects. I submitted a few chapters of the collaborative book to the editor for their feedback. I pitched an article. I met with co-authors and created an outline for a journal article.
I think it was all good work but I’m not sure if it was efficient.
For my main writing project, I had 4 interviews scheduled this week. 2 were no-shows. 1 rescheduled and the other submitted a video response as a replacement. I really dislike it when someone is a “no-show.” That has been me before and I always feel a deep sense of guilt when my calendar works against me so I try not to show my annoyance BUT it’s annoying :)
One interview was from a former colleague who now lives in Thailand. My rescheduled interview will be with a principal/headmaster in Ghana. These interviews and another paper that I’m writing have me thinking about the role international politics will play in this manuscript. It’s a topic I have become increasingly fascinated with since returning from Ghana. Ghana has presidential elections in December which will also impact their Minister of Education. It’s an angle that I believe will be important to go down…
Week seven DONE!
