Week Twenty*

Technically I’m in week twenty-one since I took a break from writing this update last week but I’m calling it week twenty to keep it clear in my head.

I’ve been busy.

I interviewed three students from three different countries (Great Britain, Nigeria, and USA), created a draft of my central framework, and received feedback from my editor.

The interviews were lovely! I enjoyed talking to these young women about their experiences in school. It also made it painfully clear how little civic education our students are receiving in schools across the globe.

Getting my framework on paper was a big win. I’ve been working on this for a long time pulling multiple theories together (note: I had to be targeted and intentional to find research authored by the global majority) and I’m happy to finally have created something coherent enough to share for feedback.

I am thankful to have an editor who has content knowledge. I was able to share my framework with him and he asked the right questions to help me think deeper about what I’m creating and how to make it more applicable to the user.
